March Madness - This is a term used to describe the NCAA basketball tournament and the excitement of the games in which underdogs take on the expected winners. Unfortunately, it can also easily apply to what we see at the Oklahoma State Capitol during the legislative session during this time of year.
In our work with advocacy for the kids of our state, nonprofits like OICA are often viewed as facing an uphill battle against special interests with large bank accounts. It takes your support to keep us in the game through donations given and hours volunteered!
We are kicking off our next quarter fundraising effort today and asking you to get off the bench and help us as we approach the end of the legislative deadline for bills in their house of origin.
In 2016, we have already brought awareness to you through our Oklahoma Kids Legislative Analysis (OKLA) alerts regarding the bills we support and oppose for kid-related issues. We have shown the obstacles faced by our state with our publication, the KIDS COUNT Data Book. We are now gearing up for our end of session Advocacy Lunch, which will bring our supporters together for fellowship and time spent educating legislators.
Help OICA be the 12 seed that upsets the 5 this week and contribute to the most important cause - the children of Oklahoma! With your help, we can continue our work to finish strong this legislative session!
